How Iowa Sports Prep Works

The school built for student-athletes

The Problem

Traditional school wasn't designed for athletes.

Your kid sits in a classroom for 6+ hours, then rushes to practice tired. They miss training for assemblies. They do homework at 10pm after games. They're forced to choose between academics and athletics.

It doesn't have to be this way.

The ISP Model

6+ hours in classroom2 hours of focused academics
Seat time (show up, move on)Mastery-based (prove you know it, then move on)
Training after school, tiredTraining midday, fresh

A Typical Day

TimeActivity
8:00 - 10:00 AMCore academics on TimeBack (math, reading, writing, science)
10:00 - 11:00 AMLife Skills (nutrition, sports psychology, financial literacy)
11:00 AM - 6:00 PMTraining, practice, competition — you choose
EveningFamily time, rest, recovery

The 2-hour academic block is flexible. Start at 7am if you have morning practice. Start at 10am if you train early. The platform is available anytime.

The Three Pillars

1. World-Class Academics

We partner with Alpha School and use their TimeBack platform — the same mastery-based system used by thousands of students nationally.

  • Mastery-based: You don't move forward until you prove you understand the material. No skating by with a C.
  • Personalized: AI adapts to your pace. Struggling? More practice. Got it? Move on.
  • Iowa Core aligned: Meets all state standards.
  • ISASP tested: Your child takes the same state assessments as public school students.

2. Life Skills for Athletes

What they don't teach in regular school:

SkillWhat Students Learn
NutritionWhat elite athletes eat. Meal timing. Hydration.
Sports PsychologyVisualization. Handling pressure. Bouncing back from losses.
Financial LiteracySaving, investing, taxes. Managing NIL money.
Brand BuildingSocial media strategy. Public speaking. Interview skills.

3. Athletic Development

We don't replace your trainer or club team. We complement them.

  • Schedule flexibility: Training when you're fresh, not exhausted
  • Recovery time: No more 10pm homework after games
  • Partner facilities: Training partnerships with facilities across Iowa
  • Athlete mentorship: Learn from D1 and pro athletes who've done it
